Position Description
SCOPE OF ROLE:
The Registered Nurse (RN) completes medical assessments and brief medical histories for all clients admitted to the program and monitors and coordinates follow-up care as directed by the Program Director.
Work Schedules Available:
- Part-Time: Fridays and Saturdays, 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM (Overnight)
- Full-Time: Thursday through Monday (Tuesday and Wednesday off), 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM (Overnight)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completes screening, assessments, and care for all clients seeking Supportive Crisis Stabilization Center (SCSC) services, including adults, youth, and children.
- Evaluates the severity of withdrawal symptoms using established screening tools, as appropriate for clients with substance use needs.
- Coordinates the delivery and receipt of medications with pharmacy providers.
- Documents all medications received and coordinates medication management while clients are receiving services.
- Observes self-administration of medications in accordance with established protocols.
- Monitors withdrawal symptoms during detoxification according to established guidelines.
- Refers clients for required medical services, both internal and external, as appropriate.
- Provides health education and consultation to individual clients and/or groups based on identified needs.
- Ensures client compliance with prescribed medical regimens.
- Completes timely and accurate documentation of medical services provided.
- Completes all clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Files all required documentation in client charts upon completion.
- Manages inventory of medical supplies and coordinates replenishment with the Office Manager.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred, with a valid NYS RN license
- BLS Certificate from the American Heart Association
- Malpractice insurance
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and chemical dependency preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong assessment and case management skills
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
